I am an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher and a Certified Group Fitness Instructor. As a part of this journey, I’ve read several books and articles on anatomy & kinesiology. As a visual learner, I find Scientific Keys Volume I, The Key Muscles of Yoga is the most interesting and easy to understand. It’s written by a board certified orthopedic surgeon who has studied hatha yoga for over 30 years, training extensively with B.K.S. Iyengar. The full color illustrations of muscles and bones holding yoga postures captures my attention, and the educational content is well-organized. It’s not just names of muscles and bones, but how they move and interconnect. There are sections on yogic breathing, bandhas (muscle “locks”), myofascial & organ planes, and chakras (subtle energy centers of the body).
